In lesson today we were taught about Dialogue and why it is so important in letting a story and setting the narrative. I now understand that dialogue is meaningful, i should not assume that the audience is stupid, many feelings should be clear. Body language is important as it backs up the message being sent by the dialogue, the audience can tell and understand a lot about a character by their body language. Dialogue can express the relationship between two people. However the dialogue between a young girl and her father will be different from two teenagers. A characters personality is able to be shown by the use of dialogue as they can express themselves in many different ways. Dialogue also pushes the story and plot forward as the audience are able to follow the narrative more clearly when the characters conversate with each other.
I will now choose a scenario and write a short scene of dialogue in which characters negotiate with each other.
Scenario - A women tries to break up with her boyfriend.
Gemma: Hiya Tom, i feel like we haven't spoken properly in ages. How was college today? Boring?
Tom: Erm, it was ok.
Gemma: How were your lessons? Good?
Tom: Bad.
Gemma: Tom, i have something i need to tell you. I no your going to be upset and its not been easy and i really have thought it through many times. I'm really sorry but I just don't think our relationship is working out.
Tom: Yeah, same.
Gemma: Really? You mean you don't mind?
Tom: No, i no our relationship is over.
Gemma: Oh i thought you would be really upset, i'm glad your not.
Tom: No i'm fine. Ive got to go home now.
